Camera access
Glyph only needs the camera to scan. If you declined access, tap “Open Settings” in Glyph or allow it in the iPhone’s Settings under Apps → Glyph → Camera. You can revoke it there at any time, too.
Without the camera, you can scan codes from photos.
Scanning from a photo
Use “Scan from Photo” to choose a picture. iOS shows the picker itself: Glyph only receives the picture you choose and has no access to your library. If the picture contains several codes, Glyph shows the first one and puts the others in the history.
Wi-Fi codes
For a Wi-Fi code, tap “Join Network”. iOS asks first and then keeps the network like one you chose in Settings. Enterprise networks (WPA Enterprise) can only be copied.
If joining fails, copy the password and choose the network in Settings → Wi-Fi.
Saving codes to Photos
To save a code you created, use “Share Code” → “Save Image”. iOS asks once whether Glyph may add photos; this does not let Glyph read your library. You can change it under Settings → Apps → Glyph → Photos.
GiroCode
A GiroCode (EPC QR code) contains a SEPA bank transfer in euros: recipient, IBAN, optionally BIC and amount, and the payment reference. Banking apps fill these details into a new transfer when you scan the code, which you then confirm there. Glyph checks the IBAN’s check digits when you create one.
History
Glyph keeps your last 100 scans. Touch and hold an entry to delete it, or use “Clear” for the whole history. In the app’s settings you can turn off “Keep History”; the history is then deleted and nothing is stored anymore. Codes with 2FA keys and codes you create yourself never go into the history.
